Team Australia EMS

Being a global leader in Paramedicine, Team Australia EMS travels on a Professional Development Tour to the USA every year, travelling to 3 major cities across 3 states.  We visit Los Angeles, San Diego & Las Vegas over a 2 week period.

We have partnered with some of the USA EMS leaders especially Editor-In-Chief of JEMS Magazine, & the Strategic Operations Inc to deliver exceptional quality educational opportunities for our students.  The standard of these tours is so high that Team Australia EMS has been awarded a prestigious EMS 10 - Innovators in EMS award.

Students get to ride along with USA Fire Fighter Paramedics in LA, San Diego & Las Vegas.  They will get one on one time with San Diego Fire Department EMS leaders & Medical Directors to learn about their cutting edge, world leading EMS programs & new initiatives & will bring back that knowledge to Australia for the benefit of Australians.  Students are exposed to all areas of the USA EMS system including spending time in a live 911 Call Centre, Air Operations - rescue helicopters, frontline operations with a number of ambulance services & fire departments.

The visit to the world class Strategic Operations exposes the students to the incredible world of hyper-realistic simulation in a state of the art movie set, with moulage, props, & live actors to make for a fully immersive high fidelity simulation like they have never seen in Australia.  Check out our video below on Strategic Operations to get an idea, as words simply cannot describe this.   At Strategic Operations students are trained by ex-US military expert instructors, in the Stop The Bleed program.  On completion they receive a certificate accredited by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma

Some of the tourist highlights include - Hollywood, Anaheim (DisneyWorld & Universal Studios) as well as the Grand Canyon & Las Vegas highlights.

United States of America

What our 2019 students had to say

Alana Bowyer

So I just got back from America where I went on the trip of a lifetime!

Thanks to Team Australia EMS and our amazing mentors for all the hard work organising and getting us to and from our ride alongs and planning the incredible experiences we went on.

I was lucky enough to ride along with the Los Angeles Fire Department, San Diego Fire Department and Medics, Las Vegas Medic West, AMR and Clark County Fire Department.

Some other amazing experiences included going on a tour at the Los Angeles Fire Department Air Operations, Long Beach Fire Department Fire Boat, San Diego Fire and Rescue and a visit to San Diego Strategic Operations - practicing high trauma scenarios in a hyper realistic environment.

I can safely say that I have met the most amazing people, skilled Fire Fighters and Medics and made life long friends.

Feeling very grateful for the memories made!

Touched down back in Aus from what was the most incredible month of my life! Worth absolutely every cent ♥️

Made the most amazing memories and witnessed medical cases that are so rare to see at home. Made beautiful friends from all around Aus and worked with some awesome US ambos and firefighters!

Thanks so much Gaz, Col, Mick, Al and Neil for everything! Would 110% recommend this trip to any Paramedic student! 🚑🚑🚑 #teamaustraliaems

Well, I am back from the trip of a lifetime!

A special thank you to Team Australia EMS for allowing me a position on this amazing student paramedic tour of the USA where I visited the cities of Los Angeles, San Diego, California and Las Vegas, Nevada.

During the tour, I was lucky enough to work alongside the Fireman/Paramedics and got to see first-hand how they operate within the prehospital emergency setting and the similarities and differences between the countries.

I also had the opportunity to tour Los Angeles and San Diego Air operation centers. Not only where their emergency helicopters used to retrieve patients but also equipped to fight fires. I had the opportunity to undertake some amazing trauma scenarios at “Strategic Operations” San Diego, something I will never forget!

But it was not all hard work, I got to visit the famous Vince Beach and rode scooters around the Santa Monica Beach and Pier. I spent the day at Disney Land, cruised along the Las Vegas strip and may or may not have popped into the odd rooftop pool party, but as the old saying goes “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”.

Thank you all again each and every one of you guys on the tour! You guys made this trip one of a lifetime!
